The 2026 annual TriService Nursing Research Program (TSNRP) Research and Evidence-Based Practice Dissemination Course took place in Ellicott City, MD this spring. Military nurse scholars from around the globe participated in networking and research discussions centered around 6 research interest groups.
With 50 research presentations (17 US Navy led presentations) and 2 keynote lectures, more than 158 nurse attendees (62 Navy) gained firsthand knowledge of the latest evidence supported nursing science in areas of operational readiness, Military Healthcare System, force health protection and more.
Navy research topics included low-fidelity simulation, acupuncture therapy, sleep interventions, prolonged care, pediatric blood resuscitation and various other topics! A keynote presentation to be noted was from authors Elizabeth Scanell-Desch and Mary Ellen Doherty of Nurses in War: Voices from Iraq & Afghanistan. They highlighted first-hand testimonies of 37 Tri-Service nurses that led three major research studies during Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom.
When asking first time attendants what draws them to TSNRP and nurse research, 1stLt. Gracie Grimm (USAF) said she “finds a passion for EBP and wants to make a change within AirForce nursing and her current command.” LT Cecilia Cates (USN) finds TSNRP as an opportunity to network with leaders and scientists to enhance her future career within the Navy.
TSNRP provides networking opportunities specific to clinical topics to include anesthesia
nursing, expeditionary care, biobehavioral health, health systems/informatics, military family,
and military female health. Breakout sessions and meetings occurred throughout the
Dissemination Course. Military nurses are welcome to join these Research Interest Groups or
